Introduced in 2011 for a first time, the SGeT e.V. released the SMARC specification V2.1 in March 2020. Therefore the SMARC standard will replace the Qseven standard from 2008 for new designs in at least 2-3 years at iesy.
Here an overview of the provided interfaces:
SMARC 2.0
2 x Gbit Ethernet
4 x PCIe
6 x USB 2.0, 2 x USB 3.0
MIPI CSI, HDA, I2S, LVDS/eDP/MIPI DSI, Video-Out, SATA, I/O, Seriell, CAN, eSPI/QSPI, SPI, I2C
SMARC 2.1
4 x Gbit Ethernet
4x PCIe
6 x USB 2.0, 2x USB 3.0
MIPI CSI, HDA, I2S, LVDS/eDP/MIPI DSI, Video-Out, SATA, I/O, Seriell, CAN, eSPI/QSPI, SPI, I2C
From experiences of initial customer projects, this standard is much better applicable for current designs than various comparable module standards. For this reason, iesy is fully committed to SMARC 2.1 in 2020. At present, several designs for demanding applications in various industries are in progress.
