Future-Proof Through Retrofitting

iesy delivers keynote speech at Industry 4.0 user forum

How can existing plants/machines be made smart and connected to the cloud?
At the Industry 4.0 User Forum in Stuttgart, iesy will present specific solutions using examples and provide answers to the most important questions relating to digitalisation.

The presentation entitled ‘Future-proof through retrofitting with embedded hardware and software’ by iesy focuses on how modern embedded systems can help solve current and future problems in existing industrial plants. Visitors to the event will also gain insights into lean alternatives to large cloud solutions based on private clouds and REST interfaces. A trip into the world of POS shows that there can also be synergies here, where several problems were solved at once using a combined hardware and software solution: local data storage in the machine, data backup in the cloud, data evaluation via a web interface, and data visualisation and maintenance via a hybrid app. The presentation offers concrete solutions, encourages and shows possibilities beyond large solutions and systems, without losing sight of or neglecting them.

The Industry 4.0 User Forum on 16 October 2018 in Stuttgart will focus primarily on digital transformation. This promises enormous productivity gains, but the concrete implementation of this concept currently poses major challenges for many companies. The particularly solution-oriented and practical event will attempt to provide answers to the two most important questions: How can companies retrofit their existing systems to make them Industry 4.0-compatible, and how can the resulting wealth of sensor data be used to obtain useful information? The Industry 4.0 User Forum, organised by Markt&Technik and focusing on retrofitting and data analytics, will highlight specific solutions for retrofitting and data analytics as well as best practices for digital transformation.
